Forming a Band of Mighty Men of God

Pray for a band of men whose hearts God has touched

I Samuel 10:26 And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched.

One of the most significant pressures anyone serving God feels is to get disciples they can lead and train on to maturity.

This verse has always been a great comfort to me. I have been able to trust that if God would raise a band of men to follow Saul by touching their hearts, He can and will do the same for me.

I have prayed this prayer many times and continue to do so. Constantly, I ask God to bring the men and women that He would have to form part of the ministry He has given me. I ask Him to provide me with young men I can train for the ministry, and He has always done so.

I want to encourage each of you who are missionaries, pastors, or just church members that are discipling others to know that God will touch hearts. When God has a place of leadership for you, then He will work to get the people to you that you can lead and train.

So that means two things: get ready to train because God will bring them, and never try to coerce people into being discipled or allowing you to teach them. Trust God to bring them and give them a desire.

Pray that God will send you people. It is His ministry. He wants to use you, so get involved in actively asking Him.

You can be confident that He touches hearts and will raise someone for you to work with.

The first step towards discipleship and mentoring is to find the right men to work with. This must be the prayer of every man of God, whether missionary or pastor. We need a band of men whose hearts God has touched. The best way to start is by asking God to touch their hearts and bring them forward to serve Him. Before you ever get to your place of service, begin asking God to give you men. Get the right goal in your ministry. The number of people in attendance is not the answer to your ministry. The key will be the number of men you can train to do the work. God knows where the men are. As you prepare yourself to teach and train, God will prepare men for you to disciple. Let God give you some men. Ask for them.
