What are the results of your excuses?

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: 7 Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, 8 Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. 9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? 10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

Realize the excuses you make!

  • You do not believe that you are lazy-you have plenty of reasons to be the way you are!

Proverbs 26:16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

  • Things are always harder for you than they are for others. Not your fault, just the way it is!

Proverbs 15:19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

  • You always choose small extra comforts for yourself

Proverbs 6:10-11 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

Proverbs 19:15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

Proverbs 20:4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

  • You do not finish what you start

Proverbs 12:27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

Proverbs 24:30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; 31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down. 32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction. 33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Ecclesiastes 10:18 By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.

  • You are a victim of your own fears

Proverbs 22:13 The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

  • You live in a dream world

Proverbs 21:25-26 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. 26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.

Proverbs 19:24 A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

Proverbs 26:14 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed. 15 The slothful hideth his hand inhis bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth. 16 The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.

  • You waste the opportunities you are given

Proverbs 18:9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

  • You are an aggravation to who ever you work for or with

Proverbs 10:26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

What are the results of your excuses?

  • Holds you down and will not let you go

Proverbs 26:14 As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.

  • Takes away your desires and ability to do something

Proverbs19:15 Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.

  • It will leave you empty and poor

Proverbs 20:13 Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

  • Your excuses and sleep are robbing you

Proverbs 24:33 Yet a little sleep, a littleslumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: 34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

  • You miss your opportunities

Proverbs 10:5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

Overcoming your excuses!

  • Think about what you are doing

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

  • Get out of bed

Proverbs 6:9 How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

  • Learn to respect time

Psalm 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. 13 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

  • Understand that you have no right to eat or enjoy the benefits of your ministry if you will not work

II Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
