A Jealousy Problem

Jealousy will hamper progress toward good goals.

Rod Mattoon in his Treasures from 2 Samuel gives the following quotes that I love so much. It would be difficult to express it better. How often have we allow jealousy and anger to destroy good works.

Will Rodgers said, “People who fly into a rage always make a bad landing.”

God’s people were about to crash and burn because of jealousy and pride.

God describes jealousy as cruel as the grave. It is unappeasable and burning (Proverbs 6:34, 35; Deuteronomy 29:20).

Rivalry and jealousy are so destructive that they will damage good will, unity, trust, and peace, the foundation stones for close relationships.

Jealousy also gets aroused when someone succeeds where we have failed.

Jealousy digs the mud that envy throws at success.

Jealousy will hamper progress toward good goals.

It makes us self-centered instead of love-centered.

Jealousy pollutes clear thinking by blinding us to the good we have and dwelling upon what we don’t have.

To compare our success with that of others is a dangerous way to judge the quality of our lives. God warns us about comparing ourselves with others.
