Will Work Till Jesus Comes to Take Me Home

Wednesday, July 27, 2022

Dear friends,

Medical Update

I have had my latest infusion. The doctor has not met with me for two months, just the infusion team. We are getting a second opinion from Emory Winship Cancer center on August 15. As you know, I am currently in Palliative Care. That means they see no hope of a cure other than death as the end of my cancer. I am dealing with reasonably severe pain in my right leg often. It is nothing that I can't deal with.

The doctors have not been clear about how long I am to expect to live or the quality of life. Supposedly less than 20% live past five years after the diagnosis. I have already lived one year. I continue to be able to function and live comfortably, and if you saw me, I do not think you would realize that I am sick. Pray that God will work in my life; however, He wishes for His honor and glory.

I will be getting cataract surgery to improve my vision when I return from a trip to Peru in October.

Ministry Update

God has been allowing me to preach quite a bit. I am not sure you heard, but Jimmy Soncco resigned from his previous ministry. After posting his resignation, about 30 people contacted him and requested to start a new church and to call him as pastor. He accepted.

It has been a wonderful experience. The church is booming. It is full of love, peace, happiness, and the Holy Spirit's power. I have been allowed to teach and preach several times.

Members are opening their homes to 50 or more people at each service. You know how inconvenient that can be to host that large crowd. Pray that God will help us find a place to meet permanently. Pray for Iglesia Bautista Libertad or Liberty Baptist Church.

Upcoming Plans

Lord willing, we will be in Peru for three weeks in September. Then a couple of trips to Africa are in the works, as well as helping a new church plant in Utah. Pray That God will give strength and His power to do His work.

Family plans

Betty and I will be married 49 years on August 18. She has been and is the love of my life. I will turn 68 on August 21. God has blessed me with the most wonderful godly family imaginable. Through all the hardship, they have been with me. They love Jesus. They are serving Him. God is blessing all their families. Thank you for praying for them.
