Desiring godlike status

Satan promised they would be like God so they want that

Genesis 11:7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.

Humanity is determined to rise to godlike status, be famous, and make a name for themselves. We would never admit it, of course, but we have given athletes, actors, musicians, and tv people godlike status in our hearts and minds. Doesn’t that sound like men today?

Since Satan lied to Adam and Eve, men have tried to be like gods. It will not satisfy them to worship God when they so desire to be worshipped. That was Satan’s promise.

God wanted them to recognize Him and make His name great. That wasn’t necessary since God had made them and already come down to them. Instead, they look for how to climb up into the heavens to know God. They reject the way God provides to provide their way.

God confused their language to hinder their collaboration in doing their will instead of God’s will. He made them all speak different languages, similar to how we know them today. These languages make marked differences between us. We cannot communicate well.

Our genuine desire should be to lift God, not ourselves. Our sincere desire should be to talk together about getting the gospel to the world. Now languages hinder the spread of the gospel message. We have to learn the language and the culture to understand people and communicate the gospel.

They want to know God, but do not know how. They want to be God but can’t, so they must learn the truth. Maybe you would consider learning a language and culture to carry the gospel of Jesus to the world.
