Finishing Well

Booze caused his embarrassment

Genesis 9:24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. 25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

No matter how God used us in the past, we cannot let up. Sin wants to destroy us. Noah, so extensively used by God, ends up drunk and shamed. God leaves a horrible commentary in the Scriptures at the end of a beautiful life. None of us what that to happen to us. Do not be the bitter old grouch in your family or church.

Consider how all of us have lived our lives. We have loved and served God. We have sought Him and His holiness. We have been faithful to church. Do not let up now. God is more important than that. Stay in the Book. Stay in prayer. Be faithful to worship God with His people.

Noah got drunk. His son found him naked in his tent. Instead of covering his dad’s shame, the rebellious son exposed it to all. Love covers. Hate spreads.

When Noah woke up, he was embarrassed. In this embarrassment, Noah cursed his grandson. Who could ever condemn a grandchild for what his parent did? God has allowed me to have twenty grandchildren. I can not imagine cursing one of them.

That should help you consider the vile wickedness of alcohol. It got Noah drunk. Booze embarrassed him. He was naked. His children saw him that way. He is so humiliated he curses his grandson.

Before leaving this verse, this curse has nothing to do with the different races on this planet. It is not a curse on a particular race of people. The children do not get cursed for what their parents do, Biblically.

There is no excuse for racism found here. A sober warning of the wickedness of drink should jump into your mind and heart.

The last part of Noah’s life concerns how He messed up. Let’s finish well!
