From Death to Life

From woman to Eve, "mother of all living!"

Genesis 3:20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. 21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.

Adam and Eve were to die on the day they ate fruit. They died. The beautiful things they had in the garden were gone. God threw them out of the garden of Eden.

As God spoke to Adam, Adam couldn’t believe his ears. Sin had brought destruction into their lives. Angels kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden! God cursed the ground, but God came to them. Our God is always coming to us, not in judgment, but in love. He came offering a sacrifice. God sacrificed an animal, shed the animal’s blood as a symbol of how Jesus would come one day and take on Himself the sins of the world.

Then he heard it. Adam and Eve would not die because a Lamb died in their place. They were going to live.

Adam turns to Eve and calls her the mother of all living. Not the lady about to die, but the mother of all living. Adam realized they were going to live and have children. Things aren’t over. They are just beginning.

Now they will see God showing His love and at work bringing them back to Himself. Adam realized it was a wonderful day of salvation. Adam names his wife Eve, the mother of all living.

Can you grasp just how incredible His story is? He loves us and is always coming after us! Adam saw and understood that.

After messing up so badly that it should have been over, God shows up. God paid their sin debt, covered their shame and gave them a new life. Trust Him today and all He has done through the cross of Jesus for you! That is what He has done for you if you but believe.
