“How can I be healed from the victim mentality?"

Austin Gardner • November 8, 2022

This is a subtitle for your new post

You can be healed through the power of the Lord. It will take time, but healing can occur through a positive process in which you will experience spiritual growth. (Jeremiah 17:14)

Healing does not come instantaneously, but is a process that includes the following steps:

  • Accept that pain is a part of this life, common to everyone, and you are one among many victims. (John 16:33).

  • Begin to see your life from God’s perspective—He is in control and wants to bless you and conform you to the image of His Son, Jesus. (Ephesians 4:22–24).
  • Seek appropriate help from those whom you trust—those who are spiritually and emotionally mature and skilled enough to help you. (Proverbs 10:17).

  • Learn to relax and allow yourself time to meaningfully connect with God and other significant persons.(Philippians 4:6; Hebrews 10:25).

  • Believe in and trust in the promises of God’s Word. Allow His Word to “reprogram” your thought processes so that you will be able to replace the lies of your past with His eternal truth. (Colossians 3:10–14).
