How did Noah know?

We must teach others what we have learned!

Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Reading the story of Noah should wake us up to the importance of the oral teaching of the Word of God. Noah did not have a written copy of the Word of God. Noah knew the truth because someone had taught him. Noah learned through discipleship and mentorship.

Seeing how Noah and his family knew the truth should motivate us to teach our children first. Then it should help us know the importance of church services and hearing the preached Word. It also should motivate us to disciple others. People learn orally many times.

After Noah gets off the ark, he and his family worship God with sacrifices on the altar. Noah knew how to make sacrifices. He knew that he should make sacrifices. He knew which animals were acceptable animals to offer.

The worship and honoring of God is beautiful, but maybe more impressive is how Noah knew all that when it wouldn't be written till Leviticus by Moses hundreds of years later.

God taught His people before giving the written version. Parents then taught their children. Parents passed down the truth to their children for generations.

What should you do with the truths you learned? Are you teaching your children? Do you faithfully attend church and listen well? Do you disciple others?
