People are wicked from their youth

Even the flood didn't change mankind

Genesis 8:21 And the Lord smelled a sweet savour; and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

God had flooded the entire world. Yes, I believe in a worldwide flood. That is all I can see when I read the passage. The water covered the highest mountains. So that means the water had to get over and into the next valley until flood waters covered the entire earth.

Now the flood is over. Noah worships God with an offering, a sacrifice. God promises that He will not again curse the ground because of man. God will also not kill every living thing as He had done.

The thing that grabs my attention is that the imaginations of man’s heart are evil from his youth. What an evil imagination we have. People think about themselves and never what God wants. We could focus on God, but instead, we want to make ourselves a god.

Humanity was wicked and sinful before the flood. Now immediately after the flood, we see that man has not changed. All have sinned. There are none righteous or good. All have come short. They didn’t grow wicked but were wicked from their youth.

The most challenging truth any unbeliever can hear and accept is that they are wicked, not good. Admitting that we have failed God is harsh. As a Bible believer, you have no choice but to accept that all are sinners in need of a Savior.

What I can do now that I am a believer is focus on Him. I will seek Him in prayer each day. I will try to seek Him in the Scriptures. I will meditate on His Word during the day. I will consider Him in all that I do. I do not want this evil imagination.
