How rude we are to God. We are polite to our friends, to those we wish to cultivate, to those who have power. Common sense and common courtesy dictate the need for good manners in many human relationships. Yet we treat God with an offhand indifference, with a careless slovenliness of manner, and with a rudeness we would never think of employing to certain ones on earth. Surely we should cultivate politeness and good manners in acknowledging He who sits on high, He whose awesome splendor inspires the cherubim to chant their ceaseless “Holy! Holy! Holy is the Lord!” and before whose throne the living creatures fall.
