Sorry He Made Us

He regretted having made man.

Genesis 6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

God created the world. When He finished, He saw it was perfect. Adam and Eve lived in a paradise beyond our wildest imaginations. They had everything anyone could ever want. Satan came along to tempt them so that they could have more. Suddenly, the blessed pair felt dissatisfaction. They desired whatever they didn’t have.

Adam and Eve sinned by trying to become gods and choosing what was best for themselves. They ate the fruit that God told them not to eat. They had only one restriction, but that was too much. Who was God to say to them what to do? They sinned, and God cast them out of the garden.

The rebellion Adam and Eve had shown spread to the entire human race. All wanted to be minor gods. Everyone wanted to decide for themselves what they would do with their lives.

Humanity became sinful. Sin has increased so far that God plans to destroy the earth with a flood. What I want you to see hit and hurt me. Imagine God was sorry that He had made man. He was disappointed. It grieved Him that man had so turned from Him. I ache thinking of His hurt that I read in this verse. He grieved. He regretted having made man. God was sorry!

I so hunger for Him not to regret me! I don’t want Him to be sorry He gave me life. He put me in His ministry. I want to live up to what He wants. I want to please Him. He deserves more than I can give, but I want to please him.

Do you ever think about how He feels? Do you hunger to please Him? Let’s look to Jesus this year like never. Let’s please Him, even though we know He is pleased.
