Strength in Sitting Still???

church members still find their strength sitting still today

Arthur Pierson, in “The Divine Enterprise of Missions” written in 1819, stated, “The bulk of church members find their strength in sitting still—it is only the few to whom it is a necessary part of a Christian life to bestir themselves, and serve—to give alms and minister to want and woe—to teach others the truth, to win others for Christ, to bear a dying world on the heart, and by prevailing prayer and daily testimony seek by all means to save some.”

The shameful truth is that church members still find their strength sitting still today. Few worry about getting involved. The best will pray, give, and be faithful to their church. Very few will actively share their faith.

The world continues to grow exponentially. The labor force is stagnant or losing ground. The church must focus on the mission God called us all to do. We must share the gospel of Jesus Christ with a world that is already condemned.

What can you do?

Be very faithful to serve in your local church.

Pray that the Lord of the harvest will send laborers to His harvest.

Give like you believe the Bible, eternity, and God’s commission to your church.

Offer yourself to the Lord to do whatever He wants you to do.

Put your children, grandchildren, yourself, and all y our possessions on the altar to do whatever God wills.

Connect with those serving overseas, especially to be their friend and help in any way possible.

We do not have to accept the way things are. We can make a difference. God created you with a purpose. Do not settle. Do not just sit still. Get involved.
